Comfort?

Here’s a new one for you: a drive-through casket viewing! Yup, you don’t need to attend no memorial service or anything to view the remains of your friend, co-worker, loved one …. You can just … drive through!

Says Ivan Phillips, president of Paradise Funeral Chapel, in Saginaw, Michigan:

As you enter into the drive-thru, you’re going to see a memorial box where you can drop a memorial card or a monetary contribution. Once you push the button, the register box…   Read more →

Stephen Davey: And this is How I Preach

[It’s an honor to have Stephen Davey, Senior Pastor of Colonial Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina, featured on How I Preach. We have shared pulpits at conferences and at his church and I’ve admired Stephen for a style of preaching that is engaging, down to earth, relevant, and, importantly, textually sound. You can also hear him on his radio program, Wisdom for the Heart, heard around the world in over 300 radio…   Read more →

Honesty!

Ethics and coffee. Java-inspired honesty has just been demonstrated.

Scientists from the University of Washington, University of Arizona, and University of North Carolina have established the moral effects of caffeine! Yup, that’s what we need. More coffee. And we can live happily ever after.

Some time in early 2013, a detective story, The Cuckoo’s Calling, was released, to excellent reviews. In light of the fact that it was a debut novel by a former British military man, Robert Galbraith, this was good news.

Genesis 2:4−3:24

Man is to live in dependence upon the Creator, but the assertion of human independence from God—the root cause of sin—has devastating consequences.

This section commences with a refocus upon the creation of mankind—created to be dependent upon God (2:7), with God providing everything for its needs, for its existence and for its sustenance.

Optimal function within the divine order mandates the complementary functioning of male and female units; community is thus an…   Read more →

Time!

A few months ago, the music video “Gangnam Style” crossed two billion views on YouTube—the most watched video clip of all time!

For those like me still listening to Bach and Beethoven (or Beatles and the Beach Boys) an education is in order.

First, you need to know about the Korean Wave, the increasing popularity of (South) Korean culture since the 1990s. Though most of this growth is in Eastern and Southeastern Asia, teenagers and young adults in Latin America, the…   Read more →

Death!

James Brady died last month. You might remember him as President Ronald Reagan’s press secretary who got shot during the assassination attempt on Reagan on March 30, 1981. Brady was hit above the left eye and the bullet entered his skull, shattering into more than two-dozen fragments. Resulting in multiple surgeries to stop leakage of spinal fluid, for pulmonary embolism, not to mention epileptic seizers, pneumonia, fevers, paralysis ….

James S. Brady, 73, passed away…   Read more →
