Cussing!

Cussing!

10:54 am.

Apparently, that’s when the average American puts forth their first cuss word of the day. At 10:54 am.

At least, that’s what a new study says.

FWIW, the survey was sponsored by 9Round 30 Min Kickbox Fitness.

We love taking clients who have never worked out, or haven’t exercised in a long time, and getting them in the best shape of their life. Our trainers will customize your workout to your fitness level. Some new club members start with just a few rounds until you are comfortable with all 9! If you’re already advanced, guess what? Our trainers know how to challenge you as well! We are able to accommodate all fitness levels at 9Round!”

Maybe they’ll help you get rid of both weight and a bad attitude, especially the kind that occurs at 10:54 am each day.

Or maybe it’s because they tolerate cursing as one Yelp reviewer (Audrey D.) seemed to think:

The workouts are exciting, always different, and challenging. Sometimes I feel bad because I grunt and moan and occasionally curse but nobody there judges you! Most people are way too involved in there own workout to even notice you.”

The study studied the stresses and frustrations of 2,000 Americans. The majority of them had to swear before 11:00 am. Some couldn’t get past 9:00 am without cursing. But 10:54 am was the golden minute when Americans, in droves, begin to manifest their potty mouths each day.

The top 10 causes of expletives production? Here you go:

Financial worry: 52.05%
Not getting enough sleep: 6.00%
Health concerns: 35.35%
Work: 29.50%
My partner: 25.90%
My children: 25.25%
Home life: 23.60%
Family responsibilities: 22.60%
The news: 20.80%
Politics: 16.60%

But there were also some surprising causes of the air turning blue: environment (9%), and—get this!—the national deficit (4%).

(I’ve felt like cursing the national deficit, too, but only at 11:02 am.)

The average American also experiences 1,205 stressful events each year. 57% believe that life is always going to be stress-producing.

And so with all of these stressors, 63% confessed that they curse. (49% yell; 39% cry.)

And what do they do after cursing? 50% took to listening to music to calm themselves down; 47% to watching TV or a movie; 40% engaged in physical exercise.

Here’s where 9Round’s comes in. Said Shannon Hudson, CEO and founder of said kickboxing outfit:

People of all ages face stress every day and it can be difficult to find effective and healthy ways to cope. While listening to music or watching TV can be relaxing, one of the best ways to reduce tension is through regular exercise because it improves both physical health and overall well-being. When you are physically and mentally strong, you are better equipped to handle life’s frustrations.”

Yup, go to a 9Round 30Min Kickbox Fitness near you. At 10:54 am.

But 49% of the surveyed folks said they didn’t have time for regular workouts.

OK, try studying the Bible then.

Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification.
Ephesians 4:29

And no filthiness and silly talk, or coarse jesting.
Ephesians 5:4

Be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs,
singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord,
always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father.
Ephesians 5:18–20
